2010 Primary Care Summit

In the past two years, the Connecticut Center for Primary Care has sponsored a Primary Care Summit. Our first Summit delineated the challenges facing primary care. The second Summit described the means by which primary care might transform itself. At each Summit, we have had world-renowned speakers, fascinating interactive sessions, and opportunities for attendees to network with regional and national experts on the evolution of healthcare. The 3rd Annual Primary Care Summit promises to paint a portrait of how primary care and the health system in general are mutating with a focus on change engines in New England.

Please join us on December 8, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza, Cromwell, Connecticut for the 3rd Annual Primary Care Summit. A key objective of the 2010 Summit will be to further participants’ awareness of the strategies required to increase access to primary care services and improve the health of the communities we serve.

Keynote speakers for the Summit include Christie Hager, JD, MPH, Regional Director, HHS, Lawrence Casalino, MD PhD,  Weill Cornell Medical College,  Craig Jones, MD, Director  Vermont Blueprint for Health and  Michael LaCombe, MD. In addition, we hope to provide an educational and action-oriented forum to investigate and develop consensus around these issues, focusing most on:

  • Patient Perspective – Who’s Listening?
  • Primary Care Based Education in Evolution
  • Meaningful Use: How can small practices qualify for funds?
  • Health Provider and Employer Collaboration on Reform in CT
  • Pediatric Behavior Health – a solution to the crisis?
  • Medical Home in Practice
  • Provider Morale: Changing Roles and Responsibilities
